What It Does

The Reach GPS Location stage uses the device's GPS to track the player's position. A target is set by dropping a pin on a map in the editor. When the player physically arrives within the configured radius, the stage triggers automatically. This is the foundation of outdoor location-based adventures.

Configuration Parameters

Instructions — Directions or clues shown to players about where to go. Make it a riddle rather than exact directions for added challenge.

Target location — Drop a pin on the map to set the GPS coordinate players must reach.

Radius (metres) — How close the player must get before the stage triggers. Larger radii are more forgiving; smaller ones require precision.

Show map to players — Optionally display a map with the target area, if you want to guide rather than challenge.

Tips

📍Set the radius to at least 10–15 metres outdoors to account for typical GPS drift on mobile devices.
⚠️Test GPS stages on-site before the session — accuracy varies significantly depending on environment (tall buildings, tree cover) and device.
💡Hiding the map and giving cryptic directional clues makes this stage far more engaging than showing the target pin directly.
